first i have to admit that i didn't sign up to second life or any comparable virtual world, i don't want to do it and i'm not going to do it. But i informed myself about this world.
i really cannot understand the fact, that there are so many people who spend so much time and energy on this virtual world. i wonder why they don't spend all this time and energy on the real world - on altering their real life for the better? and why do they want to have a second life? i could imagine that they want to be better, more successful, more pwerful,.. but if they don't like their first life they should concentrate on this all the more! you ARE still in the real world when you switch off the computer. so you should work on your REAL life. go out and discover the REAL world! it is not created by humans and that's why there's always more to discover. and when i think about my profession, why should i want to design a virtual world? i want to design the real world!
nevertheless i have to add, that the virtual life could be a chance for those who aren't able to live the real life outside. those can easily come into contact with others, go to school, to parties,... i like this idea and it's a great chance.
but i still don't want to be a part of second life and i don't want second life to be a part of me.
